Legacy 125 kHz proximity readers — using proprietary 26-bit or facility-coded Wiegand formats — remain active in older residence halls and perimeter gates. High-security tiers — including HID Seos, iCLASS SE Elite and AES-secured smart-card credentials — operate on a mutual-authentication model. The access control system holds the sector keys and enrols each credential at issuance; the card itself ships as an unencoded blank. This is architecturally correct and means compatible blank credentials from any qualified supplier are interoperable with your existing readers and panels, provided they carry the correct chip specification.
